Karen started making dough ornaments in 1971. The ornaments were hung on the DuMont's Christmas tree and were also given to family and friends, some of who still adorn their trees with these originals. As time went by, these core supporters encouraged her to start selling them at Craft Shows. As they say, the rest is history as each fall the DuMont’s travel around the Mid-Atlantic area enjoying the Craft Show season. The ornaments have also been sold in shops across the U.S. from the east coast (Williamsburg, VA Christmas shop) to the west coast (Queen Mary ship shop in Long Beach, CA.). They have also been used as fundraisers by Boy’s Hope/Girl’s Hope, Children's Hospital, and the Leukemia Society as well as corporate gifts.
What makes them so special and unique? Each one is hand molded from baker’s dough, baked in an oven, painted, and sealed. But more importantly, each one can be personalized with your family’s or friend’s names.
